I have had the priviledge of serving as Camp Director the past 20 years. I have seen God work in a terrific way through the Christian camp experience. I have seen lives changed! Some beginning a new relationship with Jesus as Savior of their life. Others have surrendered a stubborn will and given God lordship of their life. This has led to changes in direction of their life even vocation. Using God's creation as a natural teaching tool is what makes Christian camping unique. A living laboratory where Heavens proclaim the glory of God and his handiwork. A place where life lessons can be taught and understood. I hope you will take advantage of the many different camps that are designed to meet the needs of your child. Christian Camping is a powerful tool for evangelism and discipleship.

Gus Denzik has been deaning or serving in weeks of camp since 1993. Back then, you may not have noticed him because he has always done the wilderness trips that leave property. At that time he was a professional in the challenge course industry. He owned his own business as a professional builder and built the first challenge course at Butler Springs in 1994. Gus and his wife, Valerie, knew they needed a change. Gus was traveling all the time and while he was running a successful business but he was ruining a successful life! They prayed long and hard that God would bring them to a ministry where he could use his talents and gifts. God opened the door in a very tangible way to allow Gus and his family to move to Butler Springs in 2000. Gus, Valerie and his three sons have enjoyed serving the kingdom in the ministry of Christian Camp and have never looked back. Gus had this to say, "Butler Springs is a special place where God has done great things to spread the good news. I love going to speak at churches and I hear it over and over from folks of all ages - I was baptized at camp, I met my wife at camp, God called me into the ministry at camp, I decided to go to Christian College at camp. And I will never get tired of hearing it. Praise be to God because I get to be a part of it!!!" Gus is the retreat coordinator and is also responsible for the challenge course and special projects. He loves working along side of Keith and Terry and the many others who have been used by God to serve at Butler Springs.

Chris graduated from Virginia Tech in May of 2005 with a degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering and after working with a private consulting firm, he felt God calling him to a different direction in life. So instead of ignoring God, Chris dropped everything and enrolled at Kentucky Christian University to major in Ministry Management with an emphasis in Camp Management in the fall of 2006. Chris joined the KCU outreach program, Camp Teams, and visited Butler Springs in the summer of 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed his time here. In fact, he enjoyed it so much, he decided to complete his internship here in the summer of 2008. After graduation, Chris married his beautiful wife, Christy, and they worked as summer 2009 staff, and the opportunity for full-time employment presented itself and now Chris and Christy are the newest members of the Butler Springs family. Chris enjoys the outdoors, college football, and spending time with his fantastic wife. A couple of Chris’ lifelong dreams are to hike the Appalachian Trail in its entirety and to stand atop the highest point of each state (highpointing). Of the 50, Chris has already completed 14 states.
