Camp Specific Info

Theme: Fired Up for Jesus

Key Verses: Exodus 3:2-6; 13:21, Hebrews 12:29, Luke 3:16

We should be able to focus on Jesus like we do our favorite team, sport, or anything else that occupies our headspace constantly. This camp will focus on learning to have the same level of devotion to the One who dies for our sins as our favorite things to do.

This camp is a mix of good physical activity and downtime. Campers need to be prepared to get out and hike through different elevations, sleep in the backcountry, and go without modern conveniences for a couple of days at a time. We will not always be in such situations, but part of our trip is. A more exhaustive list of needs and suggestions is attached below. The main focus is a hiking backpack (these can be loaned if the need is communicated ahead of time), a small tent(think 1.5-2.5 man), a hammock and fly if preferred for sleeping, rain gear, clothes for varying temperatures (layers), good hiking boots that have been broken in, and camp appropriate swimwear.

Andrew has been involved with Butler Springs since 2010. Originally a staff member (which repeated for a few summers) he has been helping lead this trip off and on since 2011, seeing it through the transition from Wild West Virginia to Appalachian Adventures. Andrew has a passion for this age group and seeing them become young men and women with a heart for Jesus, while facing the many challenges that come with being an adolescent/young adult. He works full-time at Camp Joy in Clarksville, OH, where he helped in running the Outdoor School Program and more recently taken over the technology and data management. Andrew loves the outdoors and has a passion for helping the underserved. He and the rest of the team are looking forward to leading the trip this year and directing the future of Appalachian Adventures.
